Hi,
I carnt make it to the DC Rally, as i am in the UK, but this morning i sent the Channel 4 News desk an email explaining our plight in the hope that they might cover the DC rally and get you guys some air time, i also sent the same email to the ITN news desk, so you never know you might be on TV over here.
Hope this counts as a contribution. ???

Today I got a mail from a H1B person with German nationality and suffering due to green card issues. He is planning to go back to Germany. He found us through wikipedia.
Great work, keep it up. I hope more people contribute to this effort. Only a handful have participated and few have just suggested a link in their post instead of posting themselves on the sites.
It takes only 15 minutes to help!
If you dont know where to post, just google- 'desi forums' indian forums' 'immigration forums' 'desi classifieds' 'chineese forums' etc kind of keywords and you wll find plenty to get started.
All these efforts are small behind the scenes efforts for IV publicity and are very important for our visibility, awareness, membership drive and search engine rankings. You maybe an annonymous soldier in this effort but your effort will be useful. I hope more people help out with this idea.

That is the reason I was asking you to try to find from your ex-employer if you could get any news.General procedure from what I have read is to issue a NOID but they have given you a RFE which keeps you alive for now.Maybe your ex-emplyer cancelled your 140 after 180 days but again all this is a shot in the dark and only your ex-employer has the answer for this.

I filed EAD renewal on May 28 2008.

When did u file your application for EAD renewal and which service center? I am not sure why you think EAD renewal triggered this I-485 RFE?

Sometime back I had read this book Inscrutable Americans by Anurag Mathur (http://www.amazon.com/Inscrutable-Americans-Anurag-Mathur/dp/1577310241) which is kind of hilarious story of someone like us duriing late 90s. I guess now your (many of our story) would worth another book :)!!

If you remember that I had pledged $1000 in last 20$ campaign and you guys could only shell out $500 out of me...which means that I still have a block of $500 which was not spent for IV in the past. Here is my next pledge :
" I will donate a lumpsum amount of $500 when we have the following level of monthly contribution and verified by IV core members :
200 members for 20$ and 100 members for $50 and 20 members for $100 , there is no date restriction attached this time , but I hope that it's done in this month, I call upon the members who can take this challenge and take that $500 from my pocket this time"
Note : Kvrr has signed for $100 and I will sign up for another $100 , which means we have only 18 members to go for $100 monthly to finish one piece of my pledge.

The rally was very well organized and I am glad that I flew down from CA to attend. On the flight back I was watching Lou Dobbs on CNN and they used a clipping from our rally and did a whole piece on illegal immigration without even mentioning the rally!! That is so typical of the media.

No one has answered my question yet - If we are so "highly skilled", why no one is listening to us in this country. Kavita, I do not know about your field but in my field, IT, I see so many people, wanting to live in this country at any cost. They would work for any salary, they are OK to get relocated 6 times in a year, they would put up with any BS imposed by desi employers, but they would never go back. Now, I do not think they are "required" here. They are fighting to survive here. Again, nothing wrong in fighting to survive but to say that I am "required" here is a bit far from reality. If they (so called required population fighting for green card) leave tomorrow, nothing will change.
America wants us as a temporary worker, with emphasis on the word temporary. America has no incentive to give us Green Cards. You work for 6 years, pay social security and Medicare and then pack up your bag and go back. Thank you very much, we appreciate your business. Don't you see it written on the wall? Especially those who are in EB3-I category? I can see it!

Hell No. But you know what - if you remove that then entire EB system would be high jacked by Indians, just like they have high jacked H1-B and L-1 visa category. So much so that IMHO H1-B visa has lost its sole purpose. It was designed to give American companies the ability to hire talented people from other countries. It wasn't designed for Desi employers to hire desi consultants and then make those desi consultants run coast to coast looking for projects. Infosys and Satyam can open up shops on US soil and can call themselves American companies but you and I both know the fact, how American those companies are! So, being in EB3-I category, and after living here for almost 8 years on temporary visa, I can feel the pain, but in some part we are also responsible for this mess.

East-Indian-americans are not even 0.5% of the total US population and are among some of the highly successful ethnic groups.
Banks got bailout as they made noise, so are the auto companies. We have many fools who are still in denials even after such a big injustice (unfair country quota for EB category), they just hide behind their false explanations & stupid theory and never even think that asking for or fighting against injustice. Why an online MBA should be discriminated from the regular class room ?
Today�s techie world, everything is done remote- say for example you work from home remotely , you send the work to offshore,
you do your tax filing online, you do online bank transaction , you do trading online etc .
For everything you don�t go in person to execute everything , almost everything is online. We don�t really challenge those items.
In tandem , any good reputable university courses are really challenging in par and more tough with compared with class room.
None of the accredited university will not give you free degree.
Does university has to have an GMAT or ACCSB !! or reputation ? � It all depends on your interest and what you learn from it , and individual skill and talent.
Even any highly accredited university does not give you any magic bullets you needed.
There is basic principle, do not give money to anyone more than your assets . Banking sectors, always recruit the cream layer MBA from top university , don�t they know this small concept ?, inspite , they started lending more money than they can afford , where is the risk analysis on this ? � basic fundamental .
Can we call this Harvard and top university brains created this 2008-2009 recession ? , I read some articles, challenging the Harvard professionals for the mess in financial industry � where is the Harvard MBA ?

Hi,
We filed I-485 july last year, but didn't file for EAD.
Now I want to file EAD for me and my wife, she is on H4 right now.
The main posting talks about filing everything together.
Anyone know which all forms I need to send when applying only for EAD? do we need send any other form than I-765?
I filed in nebraska, but case is with texas service center now. Where should I mail my forms? Texas or Nebraska?

Stop the non-sense . As if USCIS-DOL knows exactly how many portings are going on ..do you think all the movement of this dates make sense ? just check last year movements .. they have no theory no logic or no numbers they just move with no logic ... At the end of year they move to 2006 or 2007and back to 2003 next year ..
I m EB2 2006 and I have no problems with portings ..go for it EB3 folks ..I know it will be a year or more process but worth it , I think EB3 early 2000 folks deserve GC than a 2006-2007 EB2 folks(Dont think you are genious just because you are EB2 ..we know we all do same jobs).

Only if you plan to remain in the U.S. permanently and you don't like the fact that you'll have to wait for many years without the ability to get a salary raise or promotion, without your spouse being able to work (if you have one) and being forced to leave the U.S. immediately if you get laid off.

I have been here for 8 years and I do not have the option of going back to my country like you guys from India. I applied for my 485 2 years ago and my son and wife are working already.
When I was on H1, I was happy with the company. It seems that people who are using the sponsor company as a tool to get the GC are the ones complaininf the most about.

I talked to my Professor where I did my masters and he agreed to sign the online petition. He is one of top researchers in his field. Imagine if we can get signatures from such great . Professors, outstanding Scientists, CEO's and Directors of big companies, Journalists (like the one who wrote nice article in Washington post about legal immigration) and probably Bill Gates. This would create great attention for our cause. They are lots of people out there who support legal immigration and its time to bring them together and show it to the world in a petition.
If anyone thinks this is a good idea, can you just leave a message saying that you support it. At least we know how many people are interested in this forum.

Thanks abracadabra for agreeing to the point. It is really funny isn't it, when you notice people fighting over God's? Just the thought of fighting to support your God shows that you really dont belive in his/her strength or you dont really know what God is!! If thats the case, how would that power qualify to be GOD?? Whether it is in Inda/pakisthan/middle east/africa, wherever people fight to save their God/gods are just fighting to avoid confronting their own insecurity:-) What is the difference between me getting insulted on seeing Ganeshas picture on a beer bottle or Jesus's picture on the toilet seat and a circle with two dots as eyes on a person's BUTT, which he claims to represent ME (thomas)? Ofcourse I know that the circle with 2 dotts on his BUTT doesn't represent me so is the same about Ganesha / Jesus. Who has seen these folks?? The big truth is NOBODY!! EVER!! Imagine how would I look if I stood around crying like a baby, when the guy walks around with his BUTT exposed showing the circle with two dotts claiming that it acurately represents me?? Ganesha, Jesus, Allah and Krishna are all laughing. Laughing not at the person who shows off as insulting them, but actually (ironically) at us who stand around crying about that.
