ok- so , I am guessing the consensus is go with the earlier PD (+ EB3).
Also, is the SKILL bill is for people with higher ed from the US- both of us qualify for that as we both comepleted our MS in the US.

I have one year left on my second H1. I am EB3, Canadian born category. Just got I-140 approved last week or so. I've been working here in California for the same employer for 6 years. My PD is Nov 04. I feel like I've taken a big career hit.

Can't answer all your questions but here is what I did. I had been working for the same company for five years. My priority date was Sept. ' 02. I finally got a 45 day letter in March '05. I decided not to remain hostage to the green card process. I changed my job mid-2005. Refiled all the paperwork. I was in my 5th year of H1B. You are in a better situation than me because your I-140 has been approved and having worked there for six years you might be able to convince them not to revoke it if you change your job.
I suggest you write down all your career and personal goal for next five years. Prioritize. Act on whatever takes precedence. Be very honest because you will need to face the consequences, job satisfaction vs delayed green card.

Keep checking every day or if possible atleast 4 times a day. They will release dates suddenly ( I don't know the rhyme or reason). One appointment for a family. You can add additional members right away. But once you pick a date, you CANNOT prepone or postpone. When you select the date of appointment, it will NOT ASK for CONFIRMATION; so please be sure of the date BEFORE HAND. Then you will proceed to type the 3 forms for each person going to the interview. For each person it takes atleast 20 min to fill the forms.
To take another date you have to cancel your appointment. Your typed forms are lost. When you take another appointment, you have to type all over again. You have to cancel 48 hours before your appointment time in IST, otherwise you cannot cancel.
Also check two more things:
1) Emergency appointments can be booked for non-medical reasons , that is for visa extension. But please check this.
2) You can prepone your date any number of times, but can postpone ONLY once. Check this if this is correct.

My experience says dont worry unless someone else comes back and say they had issues with different A#s on 140 and 485. I had applied for EAD and AP on the A# of 485 and was approved. Finally my GC has the A# on 485.

please update us on when you get your visa and please post your entire experience as it would help others. you should have applied for AP while you are in US. Now that you are outside and do not have AP, the only options I see are you just wait on the visa from US consulate in Canada or alternatively, you can request your passport back telling them that you would like to apply for visa in India as you cannot stay in Canada for an extended period of time.

i got an rfe too. I think its sent to both the attorney and the applicant. They said they mailed the RFE yesterday, so hopefully by early next week I should have it. I am guessing its employment verification due to me filing change-of-address. i know for sure that my ex-employer did not revoke 140.

AFAIK you cannot use your SSN to receive google adsense revenues if you want to continue on H1B. It counts as business income and Google will send you a 1099 form and that is not allowed on an H1B. What people usually do is get someone in their home country to be the Google Adsense beneficiary. If you use your own ssn, on paper, it puts you out of H1B status.

Seeing that you are a legal immigrant paying taxes and being put thru obstacles, they should surely be willing to help you out.
Getting the driver's license is not the problem, I know it will come. Problem here is why I cannot drive outside SC for up to 60 days waiting for the DL card? Remember I've to surrender my old SC license. This is serious limitation to my work, e.g. I need to go to Atlanta on 08/19 and I cannot drive there.
In September I will go to Italy, what if I don�t get my DL till then?

It would probably be OK, but there is no guarantee. If someone is taking a trip for longer than one year they must get a travel permit.
