Do not get me wrong ....140 crore Rupees [EAD & AP Renewal] just for pending 485 is not an small amount.....
they will be another July 2007 fiasco in 2010.....so that another 200K people board the non stop flight for GC destination......so that 140 Crore becomes 280 Crore Rupees....those 2000 hired by USCIS in 2007 will be waiting for salary hike ....:D

This is just a stunt. WHy did she wait allthese days to write this letter. Now when everything falls in place by others efforts, she wants people to think it is because her effort all these things are happening. I hate murthy or your murfhy.

What do u know about murthy? She is a founder of a reputed immigration Law firm and she needs to do think before she speaks. Maybe she took all the time in doing the ground work which she had mentioned in her letter. Think in a positive way. Sending bunch of flowers and getting the media attention does not solve the problem. There should be some one who can speak directly to the concerned persons and that is what sheela murthy is doing. Let her make her efforts.

A big help would be for someone to post contact details for some of the officials (USCIS, DOS, Ombudsman). We would be able to pass this information to the senator's aides or fax/mail the letter directly.

Actually even the Brits. have a rule in their immigration process stating that if you have spent a total of 10 yrs in that country, that alone is a basis for a PR card there. Citizenship is another 1 yr after that(there is currently some debate about making it 2 mainly over spousal PR cards). This rule is based on the premise that if you have been part of the society for that length of time then you have contributed sufficiently to warrant peership. So by this score, many of those who posted that they have been here since earlier than 1999 would have been eligible even absent the employers assistance.
Given that we have been tax paying, law abiding and patiently waiting through a bureaucratic system that has to date not approved 500K visas that they could have, we have a legitimate grouse to any fair minded person. We have contributed tremendously through our purchasing power and in many other ways to this economy.
As it stands however the system is mainly screwing EB India. Ideally they should start up a Country caps for H1b visas also. Only then will the foolishness of per country quotas for EMPLOYMENT BASED immigration be fully apparent. I see potentially another example of this "managed overflow" system at work here.
It seems likely on the Oct. VB that EB3 ROW would have been afforded a much more generous PD than EB2I. Based on the USCIS's assertion that henceforth spillover will be horizontal before vertical, the presumption can then be that EB3ROW would basically be limited to 28% of 140K, on that basis and recent retrogression for EB3ROW, those numbers should be used up rapidly. I'll bet that this will not happen. A whole lot of "managing" is going on.

We can go all day, moving blame from Fresh students to desi consulting companies to US immigration policies. I feel that part of the problem lies on the hiring company/client as well. These days, they want to spend 40 dollars per hour for a person with 10 years of exp in Java + dot net + ETL + BO + Mainframe. Client wants that person to work like a superman during the normal business hour (8 AM to 5 PM) and they want the same person to work like a Batman (from 7 PM to 1 AM) with off shore. On weekends he also becomes Spiderman and flies to all corners of the US to support different clients/projects. Now....imagine a combination of Superman+Batman+Spiderman in 40 dollars per hours?? They get a 23 years old guy having 10 years of experience on his resume....through a desi consulting company. Who is at fault? The person who faked the resume? The person who tried to sell his resume? Or the entity who wants a combination of Superman, Batman and Spiderman in 40 dollars per hour? I am yet to find an answer!

This is from April Visa Bulletin , according to this S korea got 14,211 visas from FB ( spill over from FB - EB) then dont you think the total EB visas issued in 2009 should be around 150000 instead of 141000....

Obviously, there must be a large number of EB-2 cases which were filed during the July 2007 Visa Bulletin fiasco whose priority date is June 1, 2006 or earlier date. It appears that the USCIS has been working hard to get these cases ready for adjudication while their visa numbers are availalbe so that the agency prevents the visa number for FY 2008 from being wasted. Well Bridgewater temple did not allow us to distribute flyers. Its against their policy. All we could do is stick the flyer on the community bulletin board and give it to the manager and the Vice Chariman of the temple. I got the telephone numbers of the Chairman of PR of the temple. I am going to call her tomorrow. Sanjay and Ajay are going to distribute the flyers at Metropark sometime this week. Sanjay is going to follow up futher with EBC. Ajay is going to follow up with the newspapers. Rajeev, did you try to get in touch with your local congressman? If not, please do so asap and keep pursuing until you get a decision from them. This actually goes for everyone of us. Please follow up with the congressmen until you get a decision from them.

Opened my email this morning to see the card production ordered email (time stamp in my inbox reads 2:15 am PST 4/23/08); the approval date was 4/23/08.
Been in meetings all day so not even a chance to call anyone about it.

thanks for your reply and clarifications. what you say is correct. I would like to request that if there are regular "positive" posts by the core group in public forums, then it will go a long way in keeping our community motivated.
i hear a lot of complaints from you and i do understand your frustration.
i also seem to realize that you want a lot and are holding on to anything you might give in return.
work like lobbying is done in the background- and you seem to know that. it is not the time to send web faxes. last time an update came there was a war here, and there has been an iv newsletter in the new year. unnecessary information provided publicly can backfire on us in the worst way possible. incidentally you are further wrong- lawmaker contacts are taking place and updates are being given- in the state chapters. repeatedly, members have been begged top join a state chapter, or if one does not exist, to help start it. have you joined one? i humbly suggest you do. you may see a lot more action there- and maybe actually do something, rather than constantly whining here that no one is updating you. in our state chapter teleconference an iv core member updated us. subsequently another core member has posted mails on the group with advice and suggestions and resources.
i hate writing posts like this or even responding to posts like this. please understand that people like me who are trying to get things moving are as frustrated as you are, because we can't get enough support.
we are not iv core. and they have full time jobs and families. still, they are traveling, contacting lawmakers, helping and updating state chapters and coordinating with lobbyists and friendly organizations, getting prepared for upcoming legislative action.
if your $20 is dependent on their making more time for you, WITHOUT you making any time for iv except to complain, then maybe it's best in your pocket. you seem to forget, and i have said this before, it's not iv as an organization that will derive any benefit from the money- it is YOU and ME and EVERY OTHER PERSON STUCK IN RETROGRESSION.

Wow.. you think people on the 485 production line are the ones who also do EAD's or get pulled out to do EAD work, nice simple thinking ! :p
The ones who adjudicate EAD's are usually rookie IO's recently from training or IIO's lent to the service center for emergencies, like last year when officers were flown in from disctrict offices during the surge to NSC for adjudicating EAD within 90 days...in addition to transferring to EAD apps to CSC.
I-485 CAO's are usually the most experienced adjudicators.
EB2-India folks should also initiate a petition campaign (on lines of the EB3-India folks) to make sure that these 25K visas do get adjudicated before fiscal year ’08 ends.
USCIS may well end up wasting a bulk of these visas, contending that since they are statutorily required to adjudicate all EAD applications within 90 days, and there is a surge in EAD renewals because of (a) July-07 visa bulletin fiasco; and (b) people applying for renewal this month, hoping to get 2 year EAD.
