I received my AP renewed document 2 days ago, but there is no email or status update relating to it as of today. I am waiting for my EAD and My wifes AP/EAD approval. I wish my I-485 is approved like this. I posted this earlier in another thread but I dont see it any more, thought I would share my experience here.
Did any one had similar experience like this. Approved and received doc/card but no email or LUD or online status change?
I also wanted to know how to start a new thread? In case I want to start a new for another crazy stuff.

Is this happening this year too - TSC is giving approvals and not NSC? Last Aug / September when my priority date was current - it was the same, i know of people who got approved from TSC whose PD were 12/05.

We are spinning in circles here and it is like reinventing the wheel. This is THE grassroots org THAT you want to set-up. already set up to achieve exactly that YES, YES We want Congress to introduce a bill to reduce backlogs. The core goal of IV is to have a bill that has our provisions. That is exactly what this organization was set up to achieve. You seem to be a newcomer to this struggle. Have you followed IV from 2005 Dec when a buch of members got together on some other forums and watched helplessly as good provisions (that were meant to allievate our troubles) were taken out at the last minute from a bill during debate.
Since then we have tried and tried and frankly have matured enough to understand that the politics of the immigration issue is complex and any standalone bill just for us- has no chance.
Our provisions have to be clubbed with all the rest of the minor and major groups that want reform. There is the nurses lobby, the doctors, the illegal lobby, the dream activists, and many other fringe groups, they all want their issues to be addressed. The anti-immigrants are a big opposition to any small relief that comes up in debate. NOW- We have learnt that we need to work with all these groups, form alliances and lobby hard to get a bill that has more support.
If you go meet with your lawmakers you will understand that our issue is a miniscule little piece of a bigger issue of Immigration. And different varying and sometimes opposing groups have to be accommodated. The politics of immigration is convulted with different factions of the society wanting different things Our little issue is straightforward and we enjoy a lot more support for our provisions, unfortunately we were clearly told that we have to be clubbed with these other groups when it comes to seeking a bill for reform. We are being held hostage also by the Hispanic lobbyists, that feel that if smaller bills come up and are passed, there will be no apetite for their bigger issue of legalizing a big core of mostly Hispanic illegal immigrants.
FOR A RECAP- after this administration came into office Jan 09- We had hopes and were promised that CIR (Comprehensive Immigration Reform) will be taken up, if that fails then smaller bills will be allowed to be taken up. If you have watched the developments carefully There was never a time and a lot of groups including IV lobbied and lobbied hard to be heard and to get a bill but- the legislative calendar with so much other priorities had no space for any immigration bill this year. After the healthcare bill, Nobody has had any energy for a big controversial bill.
Long story-short is YES, we want a bill (either clubbed with others) or amendments inserted into a bill- But have not been able to get it done.
The reason for this failure is us- IV Members. We have not met our lawmakers in the numbers that are important to make an impact. We have to do it every month- building pressure to get a positive sympathetic response. Now some members (including yours truly) have gone and met our respective lawmakers more than 6-8 times in the last year, but that is again not enough, that is just 20-25 odd members compared to total IV Strength of 40,000members. It has to be an ongoing effort, just like the dream activisits have done, they meet with lawmakers regularly, highlight their frustrations and are open to media giving interviews and keeping their issue alive in the limelight.
IV has come up with specific recommendations for what we would like to see in a bill/s for our community. IV actively analyses any bill that comes up or has a chance to come up for debate. If you want to get your hands on that document, contact Anu or Pappu and ask for the IV_Advocacy package.
We do have a paid lobbying firm that represent our interests and educates lawmakers. This is not enough, because during debates lawmakers behave as if they do not have highly skilled immigrants in their constituency and so do not have to pay attention. This is mainly IV members fault, since we have not been able to visit lawmakers offices in the numbers that we should. Our members need to show up at lawmakers offices and educate them. Tell them you live in their constituency and represent IV so that when the lobbying firm does their work, they are paying attention and our voices are not ignored or drowned.
Individual members need to be open, honest, and courageous enough to talk to their lawmakers and media about issues we face. Just crying and debating on IV's website does not help. Talk about introducing a bill for us to your lawmakers not here on IV.
We do not get any attention, because we do not raise our issues and we are not vocal about the problems we face. Now granted, we are a small minority compared to the huge lobby and muscle power the undocumented have. But we need to educate the lawmakers about us. We face real issues and our lives have been held in limbo. We have done everything right, played by the rules, stood in the line, pay taxes, contribute to the society. To get this message across, we need to visit lawmakers offices, and educate them.
This advocacy and raising awareness is an ongoing effort, it cannot be a one day or one month thing. We will not get anywhere overnight, perceptions have to change, there is a whole lot of dynamics at play. The timing, legislative calender and politics in general. But we as a group need to stand up, talk about the issues we face and have our voices heard.

In my opinion filing TWO application does not seem right choice. What if both get approved ? Do you get two cards each ? What if there is a collision in their database and raises flags ??
Using one PD that best suites you seems to be the right way.
Or file independently with no dependents (less likely to fly with most)

Hi,
I first applied Green card through the EB3 process and my priority date is March 2003.
Since there is very little progress in EB3 category, i convinced my company to re apply in the EB2 category as i got promoted (Salary increased) so that i can keep my old priority date. They re applied in the EB2 category and i crossed the recruitment stage and waiting for the PERM to get approved. (applied 3 weeks back).
Now i am current in EB3. Now, i am not sure whether i can go forward and file for I-485 under EB3 or wait for my new PERM spproval and apply for i-485 under the new EB2 category.
Please advice.
Thanks
Prasad

After 5 months they're auditing my PERM application. My attorney just sent me an email. They're not asking for specifics but wants to make sure we advertised the position. Attorney's going to submit a report as to why the applicants weren't hired as well.

Hopefully you'll get your PERM approved well before that. As soon as you get your PERM approved, make sure you file for your 140 under premium processing. IMHO, it's well worth the $1000 extra.

pappu,
Is there any thing we can do to save IV forums, from all these so called smart people.
Simly these guys want to derail the whole discussion either it is EB3 push or visa capture or any kind of fruitful discussion.
I know it is difficult to stop creating and screening ids, atleast can you delete some unrelated postings and make sure that there is some healthy discussion continues and people like me wont stop visiting IV.

EB1 spillover may never come for some time in the future. The Indian IT companies are applying under EB1 for their PMs and Senior PMs (req: BS in any discipline + 6-7 yrs exp), labeling them as multi-national executives. They are also making the employee pay for the 140 and 485 so that the financial impact is reduced a lot by a potential rejection of the 140.
This is as much BS as labor sub. I think everybody here knows how tough it is to get EB1 classification for researchers. But what scrutiny is there for these "multi-national executives" ? All they have to do is spend some time in India or any other country as a PM or SPM, come to the US on H1B and promptly apply under EB1.
May I know in what respect multi-national execs are inferior to researchers?

Yes and until we know what we are lobbying for, why would we part with money? Here is the about IV page - http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16034 - and it talks about two or three things that IV has done in the past. What is giving money to IV going to do for us in the future? Like they say for stocks. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Which bills does IV support? What kind of legislation are they lobbying for? I support the cause of IV because I'm facing all the problems that IV is trying to solve.
Microsoft spent millions to get H1B increase. It did not happen till now. So should they stop investing in lobbying?
Last year there ere 3 bills for us brought by IV lobbying-- Recapture, Country Limits and Exemption of people with Masters in Science.
Just because the bill failed and you or Zen did not get your greencard does not mean IV did not do anything meaningful campaign? You are with IV since 2007, did you do anything for these bill action items last year? How much did you contribute? Did you work on the IV campagn to add cosponsors and get the bill for vote? If I knew, I would have done it.
I came new to IV but I spent time going into old forum threads by searching and came to know about it.
I will blame you for not getting me my green card till now. You are here since 2007 and did not do anything to help me and others get my green card.

This will goto house senate conference where house dems want to strip all the immigration provisions (bad news for us) from this minimum wage bill. The key is for the conference to agree on keeping the agJobs bill which will keep these increased numbers.

I agree, a phone call or meeting in person will be much more effective if we can do that. And this situation definitely needs such attention. If one can't get time for this effort, he/she has no right to complain about it.
I think we need a good strategy to fix this and I believe any problem, with a good strategy, can be solved in reasonable time.
To press right buttons we need following
- Separate legal employment based immigration delays issue from other issues like (family based, J1, H1 etc.) Not that other issues are less important but diluted efforts won't we won't achieve results. SO concentrate on just one issue and press for it. For now let's just talk about those who are waiting for over 5-7 years for their green cards.
- Don't ask for CIR, increase/decrease quota or any change in existing laws but a swift one time executive order or a temporary introduction of a new law or something like that. Totally separate from current immigration law one time fix to existing problem.
- Immigration reform - you can do what ever with it whenever. We have a problem here we need a fix.
- Try to communicate this issue with your local media. Letters, phone calls, meetings can help up to certain extent but media can put issues on fast track. Long waits, restrictions in making life & family decisions and personal freedom are issues well understood by this country and these are the reasons why we are here. If you communicate these issues correctly everyone will understand. Put your story out on local news paper / radio. Get a local group set-up and get with your local cultural/ethnic group leaders who are enjoying their citizenship and freedom and ask them to get involved.
Let's get results, one step at a time.

Something funny seems to be going on with the TSC EAD processing dept. I got my second "Card Production Ordered" email today, saying new card has been ordered on July 29. This followed the earlier email 13 days ago, which said the new card was ordered July 17! Did anyone else have similar experience?
That was yesterday. Today I got the similar 2nd email for my wife's EAD renewal (she got her 1st "card production ordered" email July 24). So whatever problem TSC had yesterday, seems to be persisting.
