Well I really think this is reasonable suggestion to factor Priority Date to determine eligibility for citizenship. It could be 5 or 10 years past your priority and only after approval of green card. Currently many people wait for 8 to 10 years for green card and another 5 years to be eligible for citizenship and some lucky ones get green card in 2 to 3 years and citizenship in another 5 years. System should somehow be balanced to have close to uniform wait times towards citizenship for all.

how has our respective motherlands harmed us that despite being pushed around by US for years on end -we are desperately seeking US citizenship?? after all - in many cases - its the basic and advanced education received at our respective countries that has made us qualify as "highly skilled" immigrants here.....

You are right. But many people came here at the middle of their carrier and they are struck here with their children education etc., They are bound to be here and there is no way. Further, in my country, there are still reservation policies in everything, which may prevent the kids in going in for the education line they like. I donot want to explain this more as I may be degrading my own mother country. In a nutshell, everyone who wish to be a citizen of this country will have lot of valid reasons for getting a citizenship in this country.

Not only do you get SS but you also have to pay taxes to US irrespective of where you live for the rest of your life. So on a net it is still arguable depending on your long term residency plan. And my friend, Social Security is going away in the next 10 years. You think the USA can maintain this kind of a deficit for ever with people not willing to see an increase in taxes.

Hey GCN007, congratulations to you. We are very happy that folks with PD<01/08/05 are getting their long-awaited approvals - India or not, IV members or not. Clearly the wait is frustrating and the relief is boundless and we are happy for those who have found that relief.
But, are extreme metaphors really necessary? I don't think anyone here will be willing to chop off body parts for green cards! :) And I don't think it will give anyone receiving them as much relief/happiness.

My PERM app was denied in Nov 2006 and my lawyer filed a Request for Review. have not heard anything since then.

On August 5, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. I just talk to USCIS customer rep..She said it might take beyond 90 days because of too many applications...if my case is still pending within 90 days then only i can go to local office it seems. But USCIS already took final decision on my case so i cannot go to office. But she asked me to try once by taking infopass appointment.
Too many applications are a plain excuse. They did mail cards within 15-25 days (between 15-30 June 08). They handled more EAD applications filed last july07.
Now, these guys are just not sure on how to go about:
1. Approval of 2-yr EAD (for those who are not current)
2. Approval of 1-yr EAD (for those who are current and might get GC in a yr)
3. or To Approve GC instead of EAD (for those who are current/ripe/ low-hanging-fruits :I-140 approved/cases processed/no problems)
But, this looks like too much ask for USCIS. They are used to do simple things like: approve or deny and approving everyone for a sinlge time duration.
Let us hope for the best and see what happens in the coming week.

I think there is a pattern here. Out of the 6 approvals we can see today all are from Nebraska, while out of the 40 approved yesterday only 10 were from nebraska. Looks like Nebraska has been ordered to catch up......and Texas to wait till Nebraska does it:) oh well, I know I m tryin to do the impossible.

So you made it...........great news......just a day back we were in the same boat and ttoday many have made it to the shore ......I really feel happy for you guys.......i know in the long run and scheme of things we spend too much time on little things.....

I think TSC might wait until August 1st. Because if they send before August 1st they might end up giving 2 year EAD. So it might be trick. But i don't care whether they issue 1 year or 2 year EAD. As long as they issue EAD before it expires i am okay. Let's see tomorrow.
I dont care about the years for which EAD will be issued. I just want EAD, so that i can keep on working. People who got their EAD fast, should be happy and relieved, atleast they dont have to go through the ordeal of waiting every single day. I hope TSC awakens soon and starts approving EAD's.

Where can i download a sample 485 form? I am thinking of getting all the papers in order and then sending it to the lawyer, this way we can avoid errors from lawyer side. The reason I gave was financial loss. I said I'm the only bread earner in the family with a dependant wife and daughter.
I called up thrice, since the first two reps did not even open a SR. The third person was good and he transferred me to I guess a level II rep. She sent the expedite request.
..and this is just what I'm thinking that, it all happened due to the expedite request. It's very much possible that it could have happened on it's own..

I think that we need to point out to law makers that employment based petitioners are being differentiated from citizens . Whlie in their case the date of child is frozen on the date of the I-130 application, why not same treatment should be given for I-140.
I again hope our Core Team members will take up this issue.
This would still eliminate many of the children who have already aged out. Their dilemma was due to labor backlogs. Since labor certification is an integral stage in the employment based green card process the initial priority date should be the point at which their age is frozen. The I130 is the initial step for family based green cards, the labor cert is the initial step for employment based, NOT the I140.
